HOW TO MAKE GOOD WINE

Short Course in Premium Winemaking conducted over two (2) consecutive weekends (Saturday 1st, 8th February & Sunday 2nd, 9th February 2020)

The Winemaking Course is designed for people wanting to acquire practical skills in professional winemaking.

A background in Science or Chemistry would be useful but not essential.

The course is practically based, with students gaining practical skills in winemaking, wine analysis and sensory wine evaluation

Sufficient time is available for students to ask questions, thereby gaining full benefit from each session. 

Guest winemakers from the Yarra Valley provide expert instruction during each session of the course, covering both red and white winemaking.

 

ACCOMODATION 

Accommodation at Seville Hill Estate

Bundaleer House is a 3 bedroom self- contained house and can accommodate 6 people comfortably. The cost for the accommodation is usually $300 per night for 2 people plus $50 extra per person per night. Seville Hill Estate is pleased to offer this accommodation at a flat rate of $280 per night.  Be quick, as there is limited availability.

 

Costs involved

Fees are $990.00 (inclusive of GST) for the 2 Weekend Course

A copy of the Winemaking manual “ How to Make Good Wine “ is also required. Cost $44.00 (inclusive of GST). This manual is not included in Course Fees and can be purchased separately, without attending the course.  See below for more details.

Test for PH, TA, Sugar, Residual Sugar, Free & Bound SO2 Malic acid, Alcohol and Unstable protein

SENSORY WINE EVALUATION - INCLUDES WINE FAULTS (PRACTICAL SESSION)

First published in 1986 and revised every 2-3 years, this practical guide to Premium Winemaking was originally produced as a student’s manual to accompany the first practical Winemaking Courses held in Victoria.

This comprehensive guide entitled “How to Make Good Wine”  may be purchased separately from the course, Cost $44.00 (incl of GST).

Authors Background

Graeme’s qualifications include both a Diploma & Degree in Applied Chemistry and a Diploma of Education He also achieved a Certificate in Advanced Sensory  Wine Evaluation at William Angliss under the guidance of the legendary, Colin Richardson.

He started work originally at CUB (Carlton & United Breweries Ltd) in Melbourne, where he worked for 10 years, initially as a trainee Chemist, then Chemist in Charge of Raw Materials Analysis and finally as a Brewer at the Victoria Plant.

Graeme then worked part-time with Lou Bianchet, owner of Bianchet Winery in the Yarra Valley both in the vineyard and providing technical assistance in the winery until Lou unfortunately passed away.

In 1986, Graeme was appointed, Victorian Wineries Sales Manager for Robert Bryce & Co, supplying a wide range of products to the Victorian Wineries.

In1989, Graeme started a company, known as Winery Supplies Pty Ltd, supplying products to the Australian Wine Industry, covering all aspects of the production of wine from “the grape to bottle”.

Today, Graeme is the Managing Director of Analytical Products & Services (ANPROS) Pty Ltd, located in Boronia, Victoria.
